“Graffito” is an ancient processing that can be directly related to Mosaic art. This technique consisits of applying a special adhesive mixture to a glass object, and adhering pure gold leaf to its surface.
The gold leaf is then engraved with patience to obtain the desired design. The glass object is placed in a special kiln called “muffola” at a temperature of 550°C, where the glass vitrifies, incorporating the gold leaf, and allowing the decoration to last forever. The beauty of the piece can also be enhanced with a secondary coat of vitreous enamels.
